Explore all of your options to make sure your checking account is the right account for you.

In today’s world, using a checking account is becoming more and more common. Its ease of use and accessibility make it a popular choice for making daily purchases and transactions. Although most checking accounts are simple to use, there are a variety of accounts to choose from.

Iowa State Bank and Trust Company has put together a few questions to ask yourself before setting up or updating your checking account services:

  1. What services are included? These include things like a debit card, online banking access, access to an online bill pay feature, electronic bank statements, direct deposit, remote check deposit or other services that make managing your money easier.
  2. Are you single or married? If you are recently married, consider a joint checking account. If you are single, your balance will probably be lower than if you are married with a joint checking account, so be aware of checking accounts that have balance requirements triggered at various balance levels.
  3. What are the balance requirements? Some accounts incur a fee when your balance drops below a certain amount. For instance, if you use most of your paycheck between pay periods, you would be better off with an account with a low minimum balance requirement.
  4. Are the fees minimal, or can they be avoided? Fees can include monthly maintenance fees, fees for not hitting a certain number of transactions or fees for not meeting balance requirements.
  5. Is this right for me? You know what you need from a checking account. If you’re unsure if an account is right for you, contact Iowa State Bank & Trust and ask for assistance.

We at Iowa State Bank and Trust Company hope that you can find the right checking account for you! Feel free to stop by or give us a call today to learn more.
